This process is adapted from the traditional Italian Cartapesta technique, where specialty papers are tamped into a plaster mold. We’ll start by exploring notions of character design on paper before rendering our ideas in clay, from which molds are made. The weekend will conclude with playful performance explorations with our new creations.
Materials/what to bring: All materials provided. Please wear studio clothes as some of the process can be a little messy. Also, bring an N-95 mask for personal use when working with dry plaster.
